A couple weeks ago my family and I celebrated my daughter’s fourth birthday at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in downtown San Antonio. As the center just opened, I expected some serious crowds – and attempted to buy our tickets online so we could get a guaranteed timed entry. The website failed to recognize my coupon properly (buy an adult ticket, get a kid’s ticket free – from a McDonald’s Happy Meal!), so I we decided to take our chances and buy our tickets at the door. Luckily, there were no lines and no wait, and they recognized our coupon (P.S. you can also score a similar coupon off the boxes of Honest Kids Organics Juice pouches!). That brought our total down to $47 for a family of four (two adults at $22 each, two kids admitted free, plus tax). Of course if you park at the Rivercenter Mall parking garage, you have to consider the cost of parking (I think it’s $4/hr and $1 for every 20 minutes after – LEGOLAND provides a sticker that gives you a 2 hour discount, but we couldn’t get it to work at the pay stations).
In any case, we stayed at LEGOLAND for 4 hours and had an absolute blast…both my 9 year old boy and my 4 year old daughter were thoroughly entertained. Even though there were a lot of people inside, we had no trouble moving around. We rode the two rides they have three times and had no problems getting our hands into the building stations. The MINILAND San Antonio was a site to behold. There is also a 4D movie, which was adorable (everyone clapped at the end – so cute) and a (somewhat expensive) cafe with just enough options to feed my picky kids. I think we spent $40 on lunch (eep!). Overall, it was a highly enjoyable day and I was so happy we spent my daughter’s birthday there. We will be going back again soon – especially when the SEA LIFE Aquarium opens next door! Check out my YouTube video of our day at LDC San Antonio here:
But my favorite part of any amusement center is the gift shop – and this one did not disappoint. They had some cool LEGO merch that you really don’t find in other stores, and plenty of geeky LEGO kits to get your hands on…check it out! (Sorry about the stickers on the pix – these were originally taken for Instagram Stories).
